Driving in Spain

Categories

We divide our blog into different sections for your convenience:

Firstly, here in Spain we drive on the right hand side of the road and give-way to the left at a roundabout unless an alternative instruction is signposted. Wearing seatbelts in the front and rear of the car is obligatory. Speeding and other Traffic offences are subject to an on the spot fine unless you have proof of a permanent fixed address in Spain. The use of indicators is strictly enforced not doing so may result in a fine. Using a mobile phone is prohibited unless using a hands free device; you are not permitted to use an earpiece. Passengers under 135cm in height must use a suitable safety seat. Always have your driving license with you along with the V5 Vehicle registration document, the vehicle insurance certificate and if you are not the registered keeper of the car, a letter from them authorising you to use the vehicle. Wearers of prescription glasses must keep a spare pair in the vehicle. Within the vehicle you must keep two warning triangles, High visibility vests for all passengers (ideally kept within the vehicle, not the boot), a spare set of light bulbs and a first aid kit.
